Sweet

When it comes to color grading Resolve is one of the best options out there. One of the best things about this software is the node based workflow which allows for a great deal of flexibility. This software is broken down into five different pages. Most of the time you will stay within the color page where the real magice takes place. Everything from primary correction, secondary correction and color grading takes place right here. Thanks to the node based workflow you can, while not always easy, add nodes and change them around as needed. Once you are satisifed you can easily save your looks for later use. The tools and tracker are very good. This software can be used with a mouse but a control panel is highly recommended. Getting from FCP X into Resolve and back is for the most part painless. Speed changes can occasionaly cause issues but if you plan in advance this is nothing major. There is a learning curve for anyone that has not done color grading before but well worth learning. While you can edit in Resolve it is strongly recommended that you use a NLE instead. One great thing about the new version is OFX support but at this time only Sapphire is supported. I really enjoy using this software. Flexbility and powerfull set of tools make this application a strong recommendation. * EDIT * The most current version is even better for editing but you will need a top of the line Mac Pro to get most out of the software. It is strongly recommened you look at the system requirements before installing the software. Otherwise this software is strgonly recommended. The learning curve is slightly more with this version but well worth learning.

Sandbox Great Idea But Has One Limitation Importing FCPX XML

I was glad DaVinci Resolve was available in sandboxed version through Mac App Store. Howerver, I quickly ran into a problem locating files when importing FCPX XML timeline. This sandboxed version will not allow you to navigate outside of user/movies folder to locate your files. I hate giving the program 2 stars because it’s a great program.
